Computer Club QMS
What is QMS?
QMS means Quality Management System. This is where all the documented processes, policies and other material for the operation of a business are located. The intent is that all staff can access the most current information for the performance of their part in all operations in a business. This hopefully means that everyone understands what is required to ensure the best performance of various tasks and the quality level required. In business, QMS is the basis for management audits by internal and external audits to ensure quality and, if required, to achieve certification to ISO 2001 Quality Management Systems.
QMS at Computer Club
While Computer Club is not a commercial or public service entity, the use of a QMS system provides an aspirational level of performance to aim at for good customer service, financial probity and excellent resource management. There is no suggestion that ARVCC has any intention of seeking ISO 2001 certification.
Fundamentals
-
It is imperative that all documents that are held in the QMS are current versions, that version control is applied (ie there is labelling to identify versions) and everyone references only the latest document.
-
If documents are printed then these have to be considered as uncontrolled as they may be updated on the QMS at any time.
-
Each document has a process owner who is responsible for managing the currency, versioning and QMS updates for their documents.
-
All users must understand that they should check QMS every time they are concerned about a particular process, policy or procedure.
QMS Structure
The QMS is built around the background of a ‘skeleton’ Process Description Overview from which individual documents can be referenced.
It is also possible to search the QMS system for a particular document.
